  3. Subject: OVO-LACTO: Ginger Snaps

  6. 3/4 cup butter
  7. 1 cup sugar
  8. 1 egg, beaten
  9. 1/4 cup molasses
  10. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  11. 2 teaspoons baking soda
  12. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  13. 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  14. 1 teaspoon ginger
  15. 1 teaspoon cloves

  17. Sift dry ingredients; set aside.  Cream butter and sugar until light
  18. and fluffy.  Add egg and molasses.  Gradually add dry ingredients and
  19. mix well.

  21. Chill dough for about an hour. Roll into 1-inch balls.  Dip each ball
  22. in bowl of cold water and then roll in additional sugar.  Place
  23. 2-inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.  Bake at 350F for 12-15
  24. minutes.  Remove to racks to cool.

  26. For less of a sugar coating, do not dip in water before rolling in sugar.
